Dragonfly Encounter
Eight years ago this week, my father passed away. I didn’t expect to be aware of little signs that remind me of him, but from the very day he died, dragonflies have made unusual and interesting appearances. And they always make me think of him. Sometimes even full messages appear in my mind’s eye.
Just now, I was outside push mowing with a very loud mower. A large dragonfly flew near me. I thought it very strange that it wasn’t at all scared of the loud rumble of the mower.
So I said, “Okay, Daddy, what do you want me to know?”
The dragonfly immediately disappeared, and I kept mowing. Seconds later, I glanced to my right, and there on my shoulder, sat the dragonfly. I screeched and laughed out loud.
This was the exact sort of teasing that my father thrived on during his lifetime. And in that laughing state, I got his message for me: “Relax. Loosen up. This was a scare, but then you quickly laughed.” And these days, that simple reminder will make all the difference.
